BUXTON 41 POTTERS 49

STOKE Easy Rider Potters gained their first away league win of the season defeating the Buxton Hitmen 49-41 in the National League to take all four league points at Hi-Edge Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

The Potters went behind in heat three as former Potters Lee Smart and Liam Carr gained a maximum 5-1 over Luke Priest and Steve Worrall after both Potters riders had been on the deck in the race both remounting. The Potters hit back with. 4-2 in heat four from Kyle Hughes and Lee Payne over Adam McKinna leaving the Potters trailing 13-11 after the opening four heats.

After a couple of drawn heats the Potters took the lead with a maximum 5-1 from skipper Priest and Worrall over Adam McKinna and Tom Woolley to leave the Potters leading at the midway point of the meeting 22-20 after seven heats.

The Potters extended their lead to six points with their second maximum heat win on the bounce as guest Ben Morley took the chequered flag ahead of partner Lee Payne with Buxton's Tom Woolley third. The Potters maintained their lead as Kyle Hughes came from third to first to take victory from Smart and Carr for a drawn heat.

The Hitmen reduced the Potters lead to four points with a 4-2 from Charles Wright and Woolley over Worrall and Priest in heat ten. The Potters struck back in heat eleven to restore their six point lead as Morley took victory from McKinna with Priest third for Potters 4-2 advantage as Stoke lead 36-30 after eleven heats.

Stoke extended their lead in heat twelve courtesy of Smart who led the race until the last bend before suffering mechanical failure allowing Worrall through for a victory followed by Woolley and Potters rider Payne for a Potters 4-2 extending the Potters lead to eight points with three heats remaining.

Stoke sealed their first away league victory with two heats to spare as Morley and Hughes gained a 5-1 over McKinna after Wright had fallen while second on the final lap with the Potters leading 45-33.

The Hitmen gained a consolation 5-1 in heat fourteen from Carr and Woolley over Priest to reduce the Potters lead to eight points with one heat remaining.

Wright took victory for the Hitmen in the final heat but the Potters pairing of Hughes and Worrall took the minor placings for a 49-41 victory for the Potters.

Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey commented "I'm absolutely delighted with today's performance for both the riders and the supporters of the club this afternoon. I thought everyone rode well and there was a real good spirit amongst the lads and everyone here has a smile on their faces."
