MICHELL Davey romped to victory in the Pride of the Potteries individual meeting at Loomer Road on Sunday afternoon.

Davey who guested for the Potters at the back end of last season and was then unbeaten continued where he left off as he scored a faultless 15-point maximum with Potters heat leader Luke Priest finishing second on 13-points only being beaten by Davey and former Potter Paul Burnett. Birmingham’s Darryl Ritchings finished third with a solid performance as he scored 12-points.

The top three were pushed all the way with Tony Atkin and Rob Shuttleworth scoring 10-points each to keep them on their toes and Belle Vue Colts youngster Kyle Bickley showed a lot of promise gaining four second places pushing all the way in most after a last in his first ride. Daniel Greenwood had an afternoon to forget even before his first race as he made a practice start Greenwood’s bike looped with the Cradley rider hitting the ground and then taking his place at the start finishing third between Lee Payne and Layne Cupitt. Greenwood finished last in his second before coming to grief in his third ride with the Heathens rider pulling out due to his equipment.

After his victory Mitchell Davey commented “I’m delighted to have won the meeting especially with a 15-point maximum, also and it was good to get some points behind me it really does give you a boost both at this level and in the Championship with Edinburgh and hopefully there will be more maximums to follow although you can never take anything for granted in any league, like today there were some very good riders out there today and you have to work hard in every race.”
