BUXTON 33 POTTERS 57

Sunday 03 July, 2016
BEN Wilson scored a faultless 15-point maximum to lead the A.R. Richards Potters to their biggest win of the season defeating the Buxton Hitmen 57-33 in the Travel Plus National League at the D&P Raceway (Hi-Edge) on Sunday afternoon.

The Hitmen kept things tight in the opening heats as Stoke could only muster a maximum 5-1 heat advantage in heat three from skipper Tony Atkin and guest Rob Shuttleworth to give the Potters a four point lead after the opening five heats.

The Potters then struck with vengeance with a couple of 4-2 heat advantages and a 5-1 in heat eight from Shaun Tedham who until this point had not scored a point and Paul Burnett to give the Potters a 30-18 lead.

Buxton struck back with a 4-2 from Hitmen top scorer Ryan Blacklock over Ben Hopwood with David Speight taking third place.

Stoke responded immediately gaining five 4-2 heat wins and one 5-1 advantage in the final six heats to comprehensively defeat bottom of the table Buxton as the Potters gained all four league points and gained their first league double of the campaign.

Potters number one Ben Wilson commented “It’s been a great day all around here at Buxton this afternoon, we’ve done the double over them this year and it’s good to get one over our local rivals. With regard to my own performance I guess it was pretty much faultless today and I’m looking for more of the same in the upcoming meetings as we look to move up the league table.”

A delighted Potters boss Malcolm Vasey said “That has to be one of the best away wins of the season score wise. A very good all round performance from the team and only three last places throughout the whole meeting for us and the jewel in the crown was the performance of Ben Wilson who was in another postcode compared to the others this afternoon.”
