STOKE A.R. Richards Potters were thrashed 65-25 by the King’s Lynn Young Stars in their opening Travel Plus National League fixture of the season at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday night.
Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey commented “This was a very disappointing performance and was not acceptable to me or the club and we will be taking stock of the situation as we cannot allow performances like tonight.”
The Potters were 19-5 down after the opening four heats with Danny Phillips being the only rider to beat an opponent.
Ben Wilson took the Potters only race win of the night in heat five as he took the chequered flag ahead of Josh Bailey and Scott Campos for a drawn heat.
The Potters only other drawn heat came in heat seven as Phillips and Shaun Tedham filled the minor placings behind Nathan Greaves as the Young Stars gained seven 5-1’s and six 4-2 heat advantages over the fifteen heats.
Vasey continued “King’s Lynn are a very good team around their own track and I can see quite a few clubs running aground here and they will also push teams away from home especially while they have a rider as good as Ryan Kinsley at reserve, but I also have to say we were very poor as a team tonight and the performance was unacceptable. We will now sit down and take stock of things and see where we go from here.”
KING’S LYNN 65: Ryan Kinsley 17+1, Josh Bailey 17, Nathan Greaves 12+1, Scott Campos 8+2, Tom Stokes 7+3, Layne Cupitt 4+1, Shane Hazelden R/R. STOKE 25: Danny Phillips 9, Ben Wilson 8, Tony Atkin 4, Shaun Tedham 2+1, Chris Widman 1, Ryan MacDonald 1, Lewis Millar 0.
