STOKE Easy Rider Potters meeting against King’s Lynn was abandoned after ten heats with the Potters trailing 38-21 at the Norfolk Arena with the result STANDING.

The Potters did not get off to the best of starts and were 10-1 down after the opening two heats but Steve Worrall and Luke Priest gained a 5-1 for the Potters in heat three over Darren Mallett and Jake Knight to leave the Potters trailing 11-6.

The Young Stars hit back with a 4-2 in heat four before Steve Worrall takes the chequered flag for his second race win of the evening as he again gets the better of Mallett and Knight as the Potters trail 18-11 after five heats.

King’s Lynn then strike with a couple of 4-2 and 5-1 maximum heat wins to take a comfortable lead in the meeting after nine heats as they lead 36-17 before Steve Worrall and Luke Priest after Young Stars number one Robert Lambert is pushed wide on the first bend, Lambert gets passed Priest before Stars rider Rose seems to attempt to allow Lambert through on the third lap in an attempt to catch Worrall but Rose falls on the fourth bend of the third lap and the race is awarded leaving the Potters trailing 38-21.

Medical staff are then called to the stricken Rose who is taken to hospital as a precaution after complaining of back pain and due to a County Ambulance not being within the vicinity of the Norfolk Arena Rose is taken to hospital by the track ambulance meaning a lengthy delay for both riders and supporters and the referee with agreement of both teams abandons the meeting with the result standing.

Potters boss Malcolm Vasey commented “First of all we wish Lewis Rose all the best, Lewis has had a number of guest bookings for Stoke recently and we wish him well. It was disappointing for the spectators we were unable to give them a full fifteen heats but it was of no fault to King’s Lynn speedway and unfortunately we had no alternative but to abandon the meeting. I felt we were a little better here than we were in the KO Cup earlier in the season Steve (Worrall) rode extremely well for us and we were about to use the tactical rides in heats eleven and twelve one of which Steve would have been in. Daniel Halsey snapped his clutch in his first bike and unfortunately had bike problems all evening and our reserves struggled tonight on a track there are not used to.”
