AFTER considering their options with the news that Luke Chessell is taking a temporary break from the sport the Potters promotion have signed Sheffield asset Joe Lawlor subject to BSPA approval.

Lawlor, rode for Belle Vue Colts last season and links up with the Potters on a 6.61 average and links up with Potters skipper Tom Perry who rode for the Colts also last season.

Promoter Dave Tattum commented “With Luke’s announcement it left us with rider replacement as the only option and I did not feel we’d be strong enough to go into our upcoming meetings starting with Kent this weekend so Adam Isherwood, Tom Perry as captain and I looked at all the options available and we felt this was the right thing to do for the club.
We are all aware that Joe (Lawlor) had a couple of issues over the closed season and this is an opportunity that we all feel he will take with both hands. Joe has always ridden the Loomer Road track well and we know he has plenty of ability and a lot to offer the team here at Stoke and look forward to him riding in the side.”

Lawlor will go straight into the teams for Sunday’s clash against the Kent Kings at the Chesterton circuit.
