NEWLY crowned Travel Plus National League Champions Eastbourne Eagles fly into Loomer Road (7pm) on their way back from their afternoon match at Buxton to face the Stoke A.R. Richards Potters in league action as the Potters complete their 2018 campaign.
The Potters will be looking to complete their season on a high having won their last three league matches and victory would take them above the Isle of Wight in the final league table standings. Stoke have drafted in Kent’s Nathan Stoneman for Tony Atkin along with Adam Sheppard who replaces Adam Extance who is out injured with Buxton youngster Corban Pavitt who has scored well for the Derbyshire outfit replacing David Wallinger while it’s rider replacement for Rob Shuttleworth.
The Eagles who took the title on Thursday defeating Mildenhall in the Grand Final will be a tough side to beat having won around the Loomer Circuit last season and they will be looking to grab all the points available to them. They are led into action by Georgie Wood and he receives solid back up from Mark Baseby and Tom Brennan who form a solid heat-leader trio for the Sussex side. Jason Edwards and Ethan Spiller provide good second-string strength for the Eagles while at reserve Nick Laurence comes in with Charley Powell who is on a 5.00 average completes the Eagles septet.
Potters skipper Max Clegg commented “It’s going to be a difficult meeting, but there is no reason we cannot get a victory over them, you only have to look at last week’s meeting against Plymouth when everybody was at it from the start and every team is there to be beaten league champions or not. They have won the title this year and are obviously a very good side, but we will all be fired up for the meeting and look to get a good start against them and for us it would be a great way to finish our season off here at Loomer Road with everyone going into the close season with a smile on their faces from management, team and the all-important supporters.”
