STOKE have taken the difficult decision to postpone their press and practice day which was due to take place on Thursday 5th April and to also postpone the clubs first meeting of the season the Pride of the Potteries on Saturday 7th April.
The club have announced that the press and practice day will now take place on Saturday 7 April starting at 11am in the Stadium bar where riders will be presented with their race jackets and then go onto the track at approximately 12 noon.
The first meeting at Loomer Road will now be on Saturday 14 April in the National Trophy where the Coventry Bees will be in action against the Potters.
Potters promoter Dave Tattum commented “I’ve been doing the track over the last few days and putting a lot of new material onto the circuit as we prepare the track for the new season. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions we have been having and are due over this weekend the material we are putting onto the track is already wet and of course with further rain and possible snow over the weekend the track is not going to dry out. We want to make sure the track is in good condition and we do not want to mess riders or supporters about and we therefore decided it is better to make an early decision and make sure things are right from the start and hopefully the weather will also have started to warm up by then. I would like to stress that the Pride of the Potteries will still be run but at a later date in the season and I hope everyone understands our decision.”
