STOKE moved into ninth place in the Travel Plus National League and made sure they could not finish bottom of the table with a second win of the night defeating the Isle of Wight Warriors 38-22 at Loomer Road on Friday night, again after ten heats with the result standing.
David Wallinger showed that he has made a full recovery from his back injury as he top scored for the A.R. Richards Potters while Mitchell Davey went unbeaten in this second match also chalking up 9 points.
Stoke hit the Warriors hard in the opening heats as they gained a 25-11 lead after six heats gaining a couple of 5-1 heat advantages and three 4-2 heat wins as the patched-up Warriors side struggled against a Potters side that was firing on all cylinders. A further 4-2 from Wallinger and Alex Spooner over former Potter Chris Widman extended Stoke’s lead with Mitchell Davey completing a good night for him personally on the night leaving the Potters finishing on a high to end the season and sending the supporters home happy.
Potters assistant manager Adam Isherwood commented “We are extremely pleased to have finished on a high and I’m really pleased that we have gained those 6 points tonight and that we have moved off the bottom of the table and ensured we will not be collecting the wooden spoon. All the riders got stuck in and it was good to see all of them scoring well and wanting to win for the club and send the supporters home happy.”
